CLIENT CHALLENGE
With over 38 hospitals and clinics, providing a wide range of healthcare services including diagnostics, inpatient, day case and outpatient care in areas including orthopaedics, gynaecology, cardiology, neurology, oncology and general surgery. Recognising capacity constraints on the internal procurement team, the client engaged H&Z to identify and deliver additional savings opportunities.
H&Z APPROACH
- Deep spend analytics providing a full spend cube, categorised and built in Power BI
- Detailed opportunity assessment with 35 savings initiatives with detailed approach, savings targets and prioritisation split across both Clinical and Non-Clinical spend
- Our 9-month intensive savings program, backed by 7 seasoned H&Z consultants, worked in tandem with the client’s internal procurement team to ensure optimal results
- Full programme governance with weekly core team meetings and monthly steering meetings with COO and CFO sponsors
RESULTS
- More than €5m annualised savings delivered, 23% above original target
- 35 initiatives completed in line with plan across direct and indirect categories
- Opened new doors for the in-house procurement team by demonstrating the value of procurement to IT & HR
- We elevated the stature of Procurement, emphasising its significance across all business tiers, including the executive level
