TURNING PROCUREMENT INTO BUSINESS IMPACT FROM DAY ONE
How MacGregor established an independent procurement function that delivered savings above target, strengthened governance and positioned procurement as a strategic contributor.
A BUSINESS IN TRANSITION
Following its carve-out from Hiab, formerly Cargotec, MacGregor partnered with H&Z to establish an independent procurement function and deliver measurable results.
As an independent global engineering and manufacturing group, MacGregor entered a new phase with ambitious growth plans and a need to build the foundations for long-term performance.

MacGregor
Global provider of marine cargo and load handling solutions, with products installed on around 50% of the world’s merchant fleet.
PROCUREMENT UNDER PRESSURE
The carve-out fundamentally changed the operating environment. Procurement now had to operate independently while supporting the business in competing globally on cost, service and reliability.
Fragmented spend, decentralised decision-making, limited contribution to savings and high operational effort meant procurement needed to deliver measurable impact quickly while establishing the governance, processes and ways of working expected in a private equity-owned business.

Delivered above the original target

FROM CARVE-OUT TO A PERFORMANCE PLATFORM
The programme combined rapid delivery with the structural improvements needed to support long-term performance. Alongside delivering measurable savings, it strengthened governance and created a scalable procurement platform to support future business growth.
