Operational and ESG Due Diligence for EMZ Deal
H&Z advised EMZ in acquiring a minority stake in SBH Tiefbautechnik, delivering both Operational and ESG Due Diligence.
H&Z is pleased to have supported EMZ Partners in its investment in SBH Tiefbautechnik GmbH. EMZ now holds a minority stake, while the Deussen family, headed by CEO and founder Wolfgang Deussen, and the extended management team will remain on board as majority shareholders, continuing to actively guide the company through the next growth phase and further strengthening SBH’s market position as a leading manufacturer of trench shoring systems.
SBH Tiefbautechnik was founded in 1986 in Heinsberg, the centre of German trench shoring, where it remains firmly rooted to this day. As an international manufacturer and rental provider of high-quality shoring systems for civil engineering, SBH offers its customers a broad product portfolio as well as comprehensive services, ranging from technical consulting to maintenance.
Together with EMZ, the management team plans to further expand the rental business, enter additional European markets, and complement growth through targeted strategic acquisitions. The goal is to continue SBH’s successful development and further expand the company’s international presence.
“We are extremely impressed by what Wolfgang Deussen, together with his team and employees in Heinsberg, has built: one of the global market leaders and an internationally highly respected brand in trench shoring. We were particularly convinced by SBH’s leading market position, the broad applicability of its products across a wide range of infrastructure projects, and the entrepreneurial agility with which the company continuously develops its business model. Together with the experienced and highly motivated management team, we look forward to supporting SBH in its next growth phase,” said Klaus Maurer, Senior Partner at EMZ.
H&Z supported EMZ in its investment by assessing operations and supply chain as well as environmental, social, and governance dimensions of the deal. The consulting team comprised Dr. Markus Contzen (Partner ODD), Sven Steinert (Partner ESG DD), Sascha Tagliaferri (Principal ODD & ESG DD), Gabriel Estrada Martinez (ESG DD), and Michael Tines (ODD).
