Sustainable mobility for a sustainable future: Our path to green travel

Our Mobility Team worked closely with the Green Team to develop a pioneering 360° mobility concept aimed at changing our travel and mobility behaviour in a sustainable way.

H&Z Mobility Team: Our Commitment to Green Business Trips

One important measure implemented as part of our new travel guidelines concerns business trips within Germany. Since 2021, these have generally been carried out by rail, provided that the route can be covered within four and a half hours by train. To make the switch to rail more attractive, we have created additional incentives. For example, our employees are allowed to use 1st class on journeys that take longer than three hours. In addition, we provide all travellers with a BahnCard 50 or even a BahnCard 100, if it makes sense.

In parallel, we have adapted our mobility offer to promote alternative options to the conventional company car. Hybrid and electric vehicles are explicitly supported and promoted. In addition, we have expanded our offer with a mobility budget that encourages our employees to use public transport, company bicycles and e-scooters. Each and every one of them can benefit from these incentives.

Our long-term goal is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by about 50% by 2030 compared to 2019. One of the biggest sources of emissions prior to the Corona pandemic was our travel patterns. Although travel was significantly reduced during the pandemic, it is important for us to maintain sustainable travel habits in the long term.

However, we are not yet at the end of our journey. We are continuously working on the implementation of further ideas and are constantly improving our concept. Because we are aware that a sustainable future requires continuous adaptation and development.

This is how our everyday life has changed: Virtual meetings, commuting with the JobRad and bicycle use are increasing significantly

The impact of our measures to reduce emissions from business travel is clearly evident as travel patterns return to normal after the Corona pandemic. A large number of meetings now take place virtually, resulting in significant savings. In addition, about 15 % of our employees use the JobRad offer for commuting, while about 20 % make use of the subsidised public transport tickets. We are pleased to see that even more employees use their own bicycles, which is why we had to install additional bicycle racks in our inner courtyard at the end of 2022.

Introducing our H&Z bees

A highlight on our headquarters in Munich, which we affectionately call "HIVE", are our three beehives on the terrace. These not only symbolise our commitment to sustainability, but also allow us to harvest our own honey and make a small contribution to protecting biodiversity in our city.

Together for a sustainable future

The transition to sustainable mobility is an ongoing process that we work on with passion and commitment. Together with our customers, employees and partners, we strive for a green future in which travel and mobility are in harmony with the environment.
